Continental Response

Member states were disappointed by the lack of ambition in the previous recalibration, specifically the UK dismissal of proposals advanced by some commentators regarding the simplified access of British goods to the single market.

The exact terms on electricity and agri-food rules is remains to be finalised. A proposal for UK defence firms to be part of a major defence loan fund has been delayed over the size of the contribution, after some objections from the French government. Canada has signed up to the initiative.
