This young athlete has considerable social media presence
Kai Trump will have multiple prominent cheerleaders when she begins her LPGA debut on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is the granddaughter of a former US president, obtained a special exemption to participate at Florida's Annika event in the Sunshine State.
The former president, someone who loves golf, operates numerous golf courses and frequently plays against his granddaughter.
"He's pretty good. I can't reveal details but we play competitive games," she mentioned.
The golfer shared that Trump, who cannot attend, counseled her: "Just don't get nervous."
"He practically suggested to compete and relax," she added.
"From my perspective, he's just an ordinary family member. He's not attending this weekend. He's occupied with presidential duties, so he's somewhat preoccupied."
While still amateur, Kai has competed in only three events recently and maintains the 461st position in AJGA listings.
Yet she can seek guidance from 15-time major champion, in a relationship with Vanessa.
"He stands as the best player globally," the young golfer said.
"Additionally, he's an even better human being. He told me to go out there, enjoy myself, and go with the flow."
She'll challenge multiple the biggest names in professional golf at this tournament, featuring second-ranked Nelly Korda, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.
The LPGA mentioned that Kai's presence brings golf to new audiences, specifically reaching youth audiences.
The young star boasts substantial online presence and just introduced an exclusive clothing and lifestyle brand.
The competition starts at 17:30 GMT.
