Supporters Call for Custody of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a individual who jumped a fence and touched the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared clip reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the actors walked down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to be present on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Record of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram feed includes videos of him disrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote a further response on Instagram.
A number of fans also faulted event staff at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded digital services to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared startled when she was approached by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of fans had assembled in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The movie, to be released on 21 November, is the second of a two-film adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End production Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two very different characters.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and scored a dozen Oscar nominations, securing two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
