Star Rejects Anti-Vax Views Following Voicing Controversial Pandemic Feature
The acclaimed actor has provided his narration to a feature-length documentary that challenges the legitimacy of immunizations and lauds former cabinet secretary RFK Jr.
The Feature's Provocative Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is based on a bestselling book published by Judy Mikovits, who became famous during the health crisis for assertions that the illness was caused by a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
Her writing partner, a producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone figure Alex Jones. Heckenlively recently posted praising Neeson's involvement in the film.
An Unequivocal Statement
Representatives for Liam Neeson have provided a comment pushing back against implications that he supports anti-vaccine sentiments.
"Everyone can acknowledge that unethical practices can exist within the drug industry, but that should never be equated to being against vaccines," the statement reads. "Neeson never has been, and cannot be described as, anti-vaccination. His long work with the global charity underscores his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
It added that the actor did not shape the project's editorial content and that questions about its content are best addressed to the filmmakers.
Major Assertions Featured in the Film
According to the documentary, the voiceover spoken by Neeson includes several controversial claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have called for "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It declares that "medical science has become highly politicized."
- Kennedy is featured saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
- The film also criticizes pandemic restrictions, saying they caused mental anguish that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning Covid vaccines, it cites a view that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Previous Background and Current Debates
It includes a 2004 BBC documentary about clinical trials on children, which was subsequently the focus of a correction by the corporation for unbalanced reporting.
In recent weeks, Kennedy instructed the CDC to revise its long-held position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is echoed in the documentary, despite a new report from the World Health Organisation confirming no such link has been found.
An Earlier Position of Support
Standing in contrast to the documentary's message, Neeson has formerly voiced strong support for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he called vaccines as "an extraordinary human success story," adding that "The debate about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in history."
The film ends with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This isn't the end of our journey. This is the dawn of a new chapter."
