Peacemaker Season 2 Last Episode to Resolve Major Viewer Grievance, James Gunn Confirms
While audience feedback for Peacemaker the latest season has been largely positive, with viewers and reviewers praising the acting and storyline—even if the big twist in the seventh installment wasn't exactly a shock—a particular criticism has intensified throughout the season: dwindling episode runtimes.
Over the past few episodes, viewers have expressed disappointment over the significantly reduced runtimes in season 2, and indeed, the installments have been getting shorter and shorter. Episode 7, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” lasted only 28 minutes (excluding the summary, opening credits, and closing credits), marking the briefest installment yet.
You'll be happy to learn next week's episode is over 57 minutes long.
Series creator and DCU boss James Gunn posted via social media, responding to a viewer's concern.
Despite this news, it remains unclear what portion of the runtime will be actual new footage, free from intro and outro segments, or summaries of past episodes. That said, even if the finale contains all the aforementioned filler, that still leaves between 45 and 50 minutes for the concluding episode, which is a big upgrade following the previous installment.
The director earlier teased that the last episode would not only conclude Peacemaker but also give a hint regarding the future the broader DC Universe at large will be heading and serve as a kind of precursor for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. Considering the cameo of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from episode 6, many are anticipating a exciting guest appearance to conclude the series.
Peacemaker's season conclusion, the eighth episode, is titled "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to find out if viewer theories are proven correct.
