Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the US has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
