Diving into a Unique Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have discovered a variety of engaging indie games. Yet, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure includes a hero that is actually a dung striving to travel to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is straightforward: press a jump control. Across 150 levels, you'll face mini-bosses and unlock a shop to buy outfits for your poop character.

Execute your actions with caution, as a mistake means restarting the level. Jump using floating orbs to launch the poop higher, traverse fragile surfaces, and interact with buttons to unlock hidden paths. Earn UN-KOINS and use them on challenging game content in which gameplay ramps up.

Visually, the experience shows off neon environments and an amazing background music. The simple visual style featuring morphing basic polygons evokes memories of fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although difficult to recall similar titles where you are a dung character, interactive entertainment frequently featured fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can create throwables from character excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, such content shows up heavily in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already received impressive awards, including being named best at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is available at present on Steam, with the complete version set to launch on computers on November 19.
