Beloved Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.

US performer Finn, who appeared in iconic programs like Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in LA this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, per media reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family shared in a statement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he played the brother of the main character.

He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for playing the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"Finn guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared on social media.

Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
